INSPIRATION

Mississippi-raised in Centreville, Mississippi, entrepreneur Cappi Macsherry has woven many threaded trails through Colorado, Europe, California, the hills of Black Mountain, NC and now Nyack, New York where her latest production--pied à terre, opened June 14th of 2018 on South Broadway in downtown Nyack-on-Hudson, NY. Travels domestically and abroad have inspired her palate for interesting finds from clothing--their stories, fabrics, materials; art-- colorful mediums, from primitive to fine--and the artists' perspective carried through each work; to gifts--from handmades, sourced, local, and fair trade--all with a common thread inspired by the Mississippi Delta, with its raw fields of cotton, long dirt roads, primitive chicken c00ps, and simpler, more organic way of life--which is credited to her rough-hewn approach to the lines carried, and clothing line previously designed and sold, labeled appropriately, cOOpmississippiraised.

Founder and former owner of a 20 year old popular boutique in Jackson, Mississippi's Fondren District, Treehouse, Macsherry's love for collecting unusual and Outsider art followed as her next adventure in 2010, prompting her to open AnTHM: Art-Threads-HandMades, in Black Mountain, NC. AnTHM was an anchor of local and regional art on the east-edge of Asheville, in historic Black Mountain (home to Black Mountain Collège) for years, and offered an array of art mediums, locally hand-crafted and found-object art including roller dogs, folk-figurines, fiber art, art cards, candles, jewelry, natural fiber clothing and one-of-a-kind funky gifts. AnTHM Gallery’s satellite locations extended to the Monte Vista Hotel (5,000aqft of wall space) where Macsherry acted as art curator and director, producing First Fridays, the Summer Art Series and the annual Deck The Trees holiday event, in addition to the LEAF Festival, and pop-up art shows in South Carolina, Mississippi and Nashville. Works of Macsherry's favorite artists can still be seen and sourced under her personal online site and blog: AnTHMGalleryNY.com, as well as featured through the online site, piedaterrenewyork.com, Macsherry's latest production venture.

Featured in Travel+Leisure last July, pied à terre, à lifestyle boutique is just 17 miles north of NYC, featured stylish collections of new and vintage home furnishings, decor, garden, gifts, handmade jewelry, clothing, accessories, and original art. Since COVID-19, pied à terre transitioned into an online e-commerce site (piedaterrenewyork.com) and offers an eclectic mix of all the soft, sensual, textural, earthy, classic, yummy, aromatic, aesthetic pleasures we should wrap ourselves, our friends, our family and our homes in, daily. Reflected by its name, the online boutique is truly--that little space where happy life . home . her …blooms. According to Macsherry, 'It's all about creating a—place, space, style, look--'where happy blooms' in our daily lives.'

In addition to developing retail boutiques and designing cOOpmississippiraised, Macsherry has been a sales representative for top Fortune 500 companies (TWO's COMPANY, Mississippi Territory, and Country Originals, now Kalalou), a consultant to small businesses and artists throughout the United States, and has worked in the retail and wholesale industries for the past thirty years. She currently resides, alongside her son, Jack, and Labrador, Holly Berry, in beautiful Nyack, NY where AnTHMGalleryNY.com and piedaterrenewyork.com are headquartered.
